United States Coast Guard Enlisted Pay
Enlisted seamen in the United States Coast Guard receive a diverse compensation package, including a variety of benefits and payments. A seamen's primary salary consists of monthly basic pay, the amount of which is determined by the seamen's Department of Defense paygrade. The eleven enlisted ranks in the Coast Guard range from the entry level DoD paygrade E-1, Seaman Recruit, to paygrade E-9, Master Chief Petty Officer Of The Coast Guard.
Enlisted seamen are eligible for automatic pay raises on a yearly or biyearly basis, depending on their current Coast Guard paygrade. Seamen at lower paygrades will reach their maximum basic pay much faster then ranking seamen at higher paygrades, who may continue to receive periodic raises for decades of service.
In addition to basic pay, the Coast Guard offers a wide variety of additional allowances, payments, and benefits to enlisted seamen including hostile fire pay, hazard pay, housing and food allowances and more.
