Authorized by Eugene Zuckert, the Secretary of the Air Force in 1964, the Air Force Reserve Ribbon was created to be an equal to the active duty Air Force Good Conduct medal. Following the same premise as the active duty contingent, the Reserve medal is issued for honorable service in three-year increments. This is specifically an enlisted award, and only enlisted members of the U.S. Air Force qualify for it.
